How It Works

We are about to begin our fourth season farming here in the beautiful Upper Peninsula and we are excited you are interested in continuing or becoming a part of our farm family. Our goal is to be a comprehensive farm to a small group of people who are passionate about their food, where it comes from, and how it is grown.

We are doing things a little differently here at Yooper Country Farms

First: We are building a diverse farm. This means we are growing and raising a wide variety of items including vegetables, fruits, nuts, and eggs.

Second: We don’t use any insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides even if they are considered “organic.” We have been occasionally using an organic fertilizer, and our goal is to slowly wean the farm from this by the end of 2024. Your health and the health of our farm is very important to us.

Third: We are interested in building our community. This means we want you to feel like our farm is your farm. We operate an open farm for our members. As a member we encourage you to come out and tour the farm, check out our farm store and see our practices. Remember if you stay longer than 15 minutes, bring gloves, we will put you to work! We always need weeds pulled.

Fourth: We are not following a traditional CSA (Consumer Supported Agriculture) format where you get a box of farmer-selected vegetables. Instead we offer a “you choose” format allowing our members to select the items that best suit their needs.

How our seasonal farm share works:

Our vegetables are available for 27 weeks starting around the 20th of May and continuing through mid-November.

We operate on a credit system. When you become a share member, you buy a share of what we produce throughout the season. The money for your share becomes a credit allowing you to purchase the vegetable we produce.

What to expect as a member

Input on what we grow in the future. As a small farm we want to use our space as efficiently as possible. By knowing what you want and don’t want we can design our farm to meet the needs of our members.

Invites to our farm events. This year we will be hosting our third annual apple cider press party in early October. We hope to see you there to sample and take home fresh apple cider!

And of course our bounty of products:
